Mandy Moore and Shane West took another (Hollywood) Walk (of Fame) to remember!
On Monday, West supported his A Walk to Remember costar at a ceremony honoring Moore with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Gotham actor joined the This Is Us star on the podium, presenting her with a photo of them both when they first met over 17 years ago on set of the adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ teen-romance novel.
“We could not have been more opposite when we met,” said West in a speech honoring Moore. “I was busy wearing ill-advised clothes and having dubious hair choices and eye-liner in my garage punk band — or whatever that was — and you were killing it on the pop-star scene…I was trying to get you to listen to the Clash and the Ramones. You were not interested but you were very sweet about it. You stuck to your Fleetwood Mac, always Fleetwood Mac.”

West went on to share how grateful he was to the movie’s director, Adam Shankman, for recognizing that their opposite natures were actually just right for the project. “Not only was this film a wonderful experience in every way, it also gave me the chance to fall for this fantastic woman,” said West.

The movie centers on the unlikely relationship that blossoms between Jamie Sullivan (Moore), the resident good girl and daughter of the town’s preacher, and Landon Carter (West), a wayward teen, when they are forced to star in their high school’s upcoming drama production together. The tears really start flowing when Jamie shares her cancer diagnosis with Landon and he dedicates the time they have left to fulfilling every item she has remaining on her bucket list.
Clearly, the costars have forged a lasting bond, as evidenced by the way in which West wrapped up his speech. “Mandy, you’re an absolute gem,” he said. “Your smile is ridiculous — seriously, it’s ridiculous; it lights up a room when you walk in. Your energy is irresistible and your heart is second to none. I always knew you were incredibly talented and I always knew you were going to go on to do big things and amazing things, and you have… I couldn’t be more proud of you. I couldn’t be more happy for you.”
Moore’s This Is Us cast mates – including Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Chris Sullivan — also stopped by to congratulate the star.
