Fangoria #3 cover reveal: Jordan Peele’s Us makes the cut

Given the success of Jordan Peele’s Get Out, it is no shock that his follow-up Us (out March 22) is gracing the cover of the third issue of the recently reborn horror magazine, Fangoria, in the form of a scissors-wielding Lupita Nyong’o. It is a little surprising, however, to learn that the cover story finds Peele being interviewed by Boogie Nights and Phantom Thread filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.

This unlikely pairing had its roots in the recent documentary Horror Noire, about the history of the horror genre’s relationship with the black community.

“When the Horror Noire crew interviewed Jordan Peele last year, I gave him a copy of Fangoria #32 and pointed out an article in which Martin Scorsese writes about David Cronenberg,” says Phil Nobile Jr., who is both Fangoria editor-in-chief and an executive producer on Horror Noire. “‘Just something to think about,’ I joked. I don’t know if he took it to heart or what, but when he came back saying he’d like to chat with Paul Thomas Anderson for the article, all our jaws were on the floor. Ian Cooper and David Torres at Monkeypaw [Peele’s production company] were instrumental in making the interview happen, and we are thrilled and humbled that these two amazing filmmakers are in our magazine talking shop with one another.”

Fangoria #3 also boasts the bylines of directors Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Mick Garris (The Stand TV show, Nightmare Cinema), and Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter). Plus, exclusive pics from the sets of both Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the Pet Sematary remake, as well as an exclusive first look at Travis Stevens’ Girl on the Third Floor. Readers must subscribe by March 10 to receive this issue.
