Ben J. Pierce — who recently appeared on Netflix’s Fuller House — has been cast as the gender non-conforming lead of the CW’s pilot Glamorous opposite Brooke Shields.
Executive produced by Damon Wayans Jr., the potential series follows Pierce’s Marcos, an ambitious and creative gender non-conforming high school graduate whose life changes after an unplanned YouTube rant about a cosmetic company’s shoddy products lands him a dream internship at the side of its founder and CEO, Madolyn (Shields). “On his own for the first time,” reads the official character description, “this is Marcos’ chance to live, love, and grow to understand what it really means to be queer.”
The pilot has also added Pierson Fodé as Chad, Madolyn’s alpha male son who works at the cosmetic company and styles himself as her heir apparent. Chad is openly gay; however, he is also buttoned down, unsophisticated, and has “a personality and wardrobe that would be more at home on Wall Street than the beauty industry.”
Before boarding Glamorous, Pierce, who is gay, played Fuller House‘s first openly gay character Casey, appeared on NBC’s Reverie, and released the viral 2014 single “Little Game.” Fodé’s previous credits include The Bold and the Beautiful, Disney’s Jessie, and the upcoming film It’s Time.
Glamorous is written by Jordon Nardino, who serves as executive producer alongside Michael Rauch (Instinct). Kameron Tarlow is also a co-executive producer on the pilot, which will be directed by and Eva Longoria.
