He’s alive!
Ryan Phillippe, who most recently starred in the USA drama Shooter, has been cast as the lead in CBS’s Frankenstein-inspired cop-drama pilot Alive, EW has learned.
Formerly titled Frankenstein, the series centers on Phillippe’s Mark Escher, a San Francisco police investigator who was presumed dead after an attack and fire at his home, but shockingly shows up six months later … alive. Previously a spirited, lively guy, he’s now haunted by visions of a case he was working when he “died.”
Katrina Law (The Oath, CBS’s Training Day series) has been cast as his wife, Elizabeth, who is a pathologist/medical examiner. While she’s thrilled upon his return, she, of course, has questions about his mysterious disappearance.
Together, their focus turns to a Dr. Victor Frankenstein, to be played by Narcos: Mexico star and Mad Men alum Aaron Staton. Frankenstein is a brilliant scientist working on a secret project that has him on the run from a Chinese ethics board. Complicating things, Elizabeth is his ex wife.
