It is fair to say that the first clip from director Neil Marshall’s Hellboy (out April 12) leans towards the funny rather than fighty.
“Do you recall the Osiris club?” asks Ian McShane’s supernatural expert, Professor Bruttenholm.
“Oh yeah,” replies David Harbour‘s pizza-munching Hellboy. “Strip joint in Jersey.”
“No, the other one,” says Bruttenholm. “The British occult society formed in 1866 by the ranking members of the Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra.”
“Ra?” says Hellboy. “I met Ra once in the Underworld. He was a close-talker.”
Well, it’s funny when they say it.
Hellboy finds Harbour’s half-demon called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy must stop Nimue without triggering the end of the world. The movie costars Sasha Lane, Penelope Mitchell, and Daniel Dae Kim.
