Was the ’80s the best decade for big screen horror? Maybe, maybe not. But it was certainly the most fun.
The new documentary In Search of Darkness (out July) shines a blood-spattered spotlight on the demented delights of the age with onscreen contributions from many of the principals, including Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Bill Moseley (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Keith David (The Thing), Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th franchise), directors Joe Dante (The Howling, Gremlins) and Tom Holland (Fright Night), Child’s Play series creator Don Mancini, and special effects supremo Greg Nicotero (Day of the Dead, The Walking Dead).
